DIET (District Institute of Education and Training) is an academic institution at the district level in Bihar that works under the guidance of SCERT (State Council of Educational Research and Training) to improve elementary education.. DIETs provide pre-service and in-service training for teachers, develop training modules, conduct educational research, resource center, develop teaching materials, and support local educational planning. The goal of DIETs is to provide grassroots academic support for achieving universal elementary education.

"The vision of a District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) is to ensure quality education for all within a district by providing comprehensive training and support to teachers, promoting innovative teaching methods, and actively working towards inclusive education, particularly for marginalized groups, all while fostering academic leadership at the district level."
